Aaron’s Acres: Navigating Puberty with Children and Young Adults with Disabilities

This session invites parents and caregivers to share their experiences, strategies, and challenges in supporting children and young adults with disabilities as they navigate puberty.

Key topics that will be discussed include:

• Understanding and addressing physical and emotional body changes
• Fostering self-advocacy and confidence during a time of transition
• Teaching healthy boundaries and respectful relationships
• Encouraging open, age-appropriate communication
• Building self-care and hygiene routines
• Approaching sensitive topics with clarity and compassion

Since 1998, Aaron’s Acres has provided children and young adults with disabilities something very unique—possibility. The possibility to learn, to grow, and to succeed despite any challenges. Their our goal is always the same: to provide social and recreational programs that nurture important socialization and communication skills. All children regardless of ability can partake in the Aaron’s Acres experience.
