CLASS: Breaking Barriers: The Unemployment Journey

Hosted by CLASS (Community Living And Support Services)

CLASS invites people with disabilities, family members, professionals, employers, and students to join this important discussion about barriers to employment for people with disabilities. Free and open to the public.

Have you ever asked yourself…

  • Can I work if I have a disability? (spoiler: yes!)
  • Will I lose my benefits if I get a job?
  • Should I tell an employer about my disability?
  • Who is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?
  • What is a reasonable accommodation?

If you have ever asked these questions, then this webinar is perfect for you! During the presentation, Chris Phelps will share information about Employment Services that he has gained throughout his 30-year career in Human Services. Those who attend the webinar will gain important information about the true nature of employment services.

Topics will include:

  • Types of employment services and how they are provided
  • Accessing employment services: application process and requirements
  • Accommodations – what they are and how to request them!
  • Additional employment resources

CLASS offers a variety of individualized services ranging from independent living skills training in the classroom to community-based case management for social, recreational, and residential supports.
