Community Participation Support Train the Trainer Sessions November 2019

AUDIENCE:
Intellectual Disability and/or Autism Providers offering Community Participation Support services in the Consolidated, Community Living and Person/Family Directed Support (P/FDS) waivers.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this communication is to inform Consolidated, Community Living, and P/FDS Waiver service providers that three face-to-face sessions have been scheduled for agencies offering Community Participation Support services.

DISCUSSION:
As you are aware, the Community Participation Support service included in the Consolidated, Community Living, and P/FDS waivers require all staff to complete a Department-approved training on Community Participation Supports. Because of high demand, additional sessions are being offered in November. The Train the Trainer version of the Community Participation Supports for Direct Support Professionals is the hybrid of the online and face-to face-training and prepares agency staff responsible for training DSPs in the Community Participation Supports curriculum. Before registering for the face-to-face course or the individual modules, agency trainers must register as a user via MyODP.org. Prior to participation in a Train the Trainer session, agency trainers must complete via MyODP a self-inventory, pre-test, modules 1 – 7, a post-test and certificate of completion. Attendance at one of the sessions is required to access Train the Trainer materials and to provide the instructor-led training.

Each training session is scheduled from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break. Participants are responsible for their own lunch. Registration is first-come, first-served with a maximum of 20, with a limit of two (2) people per agency. On-site registration begins at 8:30 AM. A waiting list will be used in case of cancelations. Anyone choosing to be put on a waiting list will be unable to register for other sessions; accordingly, participants are advised to select another location first. After registration, an email confirmation will automatically be sent from MyODP. A reminder email will also be sent within 24 hours of each session. Printed trainer materials will be provided at each session.
