Disability Informed Service

This presentation will look at the role disability plays in the lives of the people we serve. Given what we know about how intellectual disability works, it is understandable why so many approaches simply fail. The goal of this presentation is for DSPs to respect someone’s disability and see how to adapt their work to accommodate someone’s learning needs. Practical examples will be given.

Dave Hingsburger has worked for over 40 years with people with intellectual disabilities. He is an international speaker and has published multiple books on various topics, including safety, trauma, and sexuality. Mr. Hingsburger was inducted into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame in 2009.
