December Resource Meeting: Exploring Family Readiness

Join Mara Dorff and explore family roles and relationships in support of increased independence.

Mara Dorff is a long-time member of the Families CCAN team. With a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland and training from the Center for Independent Futures and Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network of Canada (PLAN), Mara has worked closely with diverse families of adults with disability for the past 5 years to encourage independent life skill development, plan for independent living in the community, and strengthen community connection. Bringing an encouraging, action-oriented approach, Mara consults one-on-one with families to help them identify, plan and implement next steps toward ensuring that their family member enjoys a full, everyday life and a secure and stable future. Mara’s work is very personal to her. In her own life as a mom, she too is part of a family doing its best to support her funny, friendly, and very anxious teenage son with Fragile X Syndrome and Autism to live his best, everyday life.
