Introduction to IDD and a Brief Discussion of ASD

Participants will gain an understanding of the historical factors involved with the treatment of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Through empathy and understanding, participants will then review crucial elements of IDD: statistics, diagnostic criteria, positive approaches, needs, etc. Participants will gain knowledge on the basic elements, but will also understand that individuals, even if “labelled” with similar diagnoses, are not defined by their diagnosis. Bob Krome has worked in the field of therapy/behavior supports for the last 14 years with people with Intellectual Disabilities. He is a current member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and the Mid-Atlantic Region for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (MARATSA).
