Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health and Safety Guide
ASERT has compiled resources for those with autism and those who care for people with autism relating to the current COVID-19 outbreak.
Is there a game you want to play with your group, but nobody wants to be the one to teach the others? Then join them for an afternoon of fun learning a new board game in a virtual environment.
Staff will teach the basics of the Board Game Arena platform, including how to add a friend and get into a table for a game. Then participants will be given an overview of the game 7 Wonders, before getting a chance to learn through play. Staff will also go over tips for teaching the game to others, so you’ll be ready to teach your own group using one of VPL’s physical copies of the game.
Please create a free BGA account before the program begins (sign up here). There is no need to pay for premium to participate in this program. If you’d like you can also add the library account as a friend ahead of time as well by searching for the user VaughanPLGM under the community tab. The instructor will be going over adding a friend at the start of the program, so only skip ahead if you’re comfortable.
A bit about the game they’ll be learning: 7 Wonders is a card-drafting game where up to 7 players build up their ancient civilization over the course of 3 ages. Each age players will be dealt a hand of 7 cards which represent buildings they can add to their city. Each turn players choose one card from their hand to play and pass the rest of the hand to the player to their left or right depending on the age, until they have a hand of only 2 cards, in which case the last card is discarded. All players reveal which card they chose to play at the same time so turns move quickly and the game doesn’t take too long to play. Join them to learn more!
For ages 16+. This program will be hosted on Zoom. Priority will be given to confirmed VPL members.
February 5, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
