PA Pathways to Partnership: Accessibility Matters - Supporting Successful Transitions at Home, School, and Work

What does accessibility really mean, and why is it essential for successful transitions? This online session will introduce key concepts of accessibility and demonstrate how accessible environments, tools, and supports can remove barriers and increase opportunities for students with disabilities.
Presenter:
Dr. Luis Pérez is the Senior Director of Disability and Accessibility at CAST, where he works to increase access to education, training, and workforce opportunities for all learners, including individuals with disabilities. A nationally recognized expert in accessibility, assistive technology, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Luis brings both professional expertise and lived experience as a user of assistive technology to his work. He serves as Principal Investigator for the Center for Inclusive Technology and Education Systems (CITES) and is co-principal investigator on multiple National Science Foundation projects focused on inclusive STEM education and emerging technologies. Luis is also an award-winning author, speaker, and co-host of CAST’s podcast, The Learning Experience.
This training is funded through the Pathways to Partnership (P2P) Grant, a Disability Innovation Fund grant awarded to the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. To participate, a completed OVR-244 Pre-Employment Transition Services (PRE-ETS) Request Form must be submitted.
