PCHC: Making Every Medical Visit Count for People with IDD

Hosted by Philadelphia Coordinated Health Care (PCHC)

Medical visits can be stressful, rushed, and often ineffective for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Supporters play a critical role in ensuring these encounters are productive, respectful, and clinically meaningful.

In this practical webinar, Dr. Craig Escude will outline clear, actionable strategies to help supporters prepare for appointments, communicate essential health information, advocate effectively, and promote follow-through after the visit. Participants will learn how to reduce preventable risks, improve provider understanding, and help ensure that each medical encounter contributes to better long-term health outcomes for people with IDD.

This session is designed for family members, direct support professionals, care coordinators, and others committed to improving healthcare experiences and outcomes for people with IDD.

PCHC is committed to providing community health training to all agencies and county staff in the Southeast Region of Pennsylvania. They offer training in Behavioral Health, Physical Health, and Public Health. PCHC has training libraries for both ID provider staff and individuals/family members.
