ASERT has compiled resources for those with autism and those who care for people with autism relating to the current COVID-19 outbreak.
This session will look at a variety of ways to communicate with individuals with intellectual disabilities who have difficulty taking in information. We ramp curbs, but sometimes we need to ramp language as well. Respecting someone’s mode of communication means developing and adapting how we want to get our point across.
Miranda Khemchand, BA, (MPsy Candidate) has been supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders for more than 16 years and has experience working with a wide range of populations. Miranda is part of the Clinical Department at Vita Community Living Services where she holds the role of Behaviour Therapist.
