Real Rap on Resilience

At this free event, you will learn about programs and services in Philadelphia that can help enhance the life of adolescents or young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or with mild intellectual disability. You will also have a chance to add to the conversation!

What services have been helpful to prepare your child to thrive and what other services would be helpful? What are your hopes and dreams for your child’s adult life? What challenges do you face as a parent/caregiver preparing your child for adulthood?

The event includes:
• Keynote address: Sam Huber is a writer for various autism magazines and is a voice for adults on the autism spectrum.
• Panel with experts discussing transition services, employment, healthy relationships and sexuality, as well as safety around social media usage
• Breakout sessions
• Performance by the HEART Study actors that models healthy communication between an adolescent and an adult.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about HEART during the event. They will also have the chance to see if the study might be a good fit for young adults they know, and parents may choose to complete a short survey to see whether their child is eligible.

A light breakfast will be served. Childcare can be provided if needed, please indicate if you will need this when you RSVP.
