Remote Strategies for Job Coaches is a two-part webinar series for job coaches, and is a part of The Boggs Center’s “Just In Time” Webinar Series for the disability community in response to the COVID-19 crisis. These new webinars are designed for employment specialists to aid in the delivery of remote supported employment services during the time of COVID-19 related social distancing.

Participants may register for both or just one of the webinars in the series.

Remote Strategies for Job Coaches: Webinar #1 Pre-Placement Supports 

Social distancing requirements pose many challenges for employment specialists and job seekers alike. However, the use of simple technology can assist the assessment and discovery process to create a firm foundation for job development and placement. This webinar will provide suggestions for an approach to discovery that honors social distance requirements but that still provides ample opportunities to get to know the job seeker, conduct person centered planning activities, explore a job seeker’s community and vocational options, and assemble a job development plan. Participants will be provided with specific technology tools and best practices that they can utilize to provide remote pre-placement supports.

Remote Strategies for Job Coaches: Webinar #2 Virtual Job Coaching Strategies

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities are the backbone of many of the essential industries that all New Jerseyans are relying on during this unprecedented time. The social distance requirements and safety protocols in place have made it difficult or impossible for job coaches to continue to provide 1:1 supports for those who are continuing to work in the community and need the support of a job coach. This webinar will provide job coaches with a framework to consider virtual supports, and will provide examples of technology that can assist in the provision of job coaching services. Topics will include technology for productivity, remote task analysis, and emotional regulation, as well as general tips for how to maintain communication and collaboration with the job seeker during the time of COVID-19.
