ODP, Special Populations Unit Presents: Summer Series - Sign Language Vocabulary

ODP is offering a free 3-session training series for support staff to learn some limited, daily sign language vocabulary appropriate for individuals who use visual gestural communication or some limited signs. This is an introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary. This series is not intended to provide training in full ASL, grammar, or Deaf Culture.

This is a limited opportunity for 15 participants per cohort and will be approved based on language needs of the individual supported (you will need the individual’s MCI number to apply). These classes will be offered through the Zoom platform and attendees are expected to be on camera and attending for the full hour, for all 3 sessions.

Applications will close June 15th at 5pm.

If chosen, you will receive confirmation of registration by June 17th at 5pm.

Cohort 1

  • June 24, 9am – 10am: Food and Clothing
  • July 22, 9am – 10am: Around the House
  • August 19, 9am – 10am: Emotional and Physical Feelings

Cohort 2

June 30, 9am – 10am: Food and Clothing

July 28, 9am – 10am: Around the House

August 18, 9am – 10am: Emotional and Physical Feelings
