The Chocolate Nutcracker

The Chocolate Nutcracker is a contemporary Nutcracker that celebrates world culture and highlights the talents of African-American artists.

The Chocolate Nutcracker is an extravaganza of dance, music and theater created and produced in Pittsburgh featuring an African-American cast of youth and adults. Norma Jean Barnes is the choreographer/director along with choreography by Aubrey Luttrell, Toddja Thornhill, and Marlon Silva. The project is possible through the support of New Sun Rising, and grants from PA Council on the Arts, and The Heinz Endowments Small Arts Initiative. Donations accepted online to “The Chocolate Nutcracker” at http://www.newsunrising.org/projects-we-support. They also accept checks payable to “The New Sun Rising” in the memo line indicate “The Chocolate Nutcracker”. The Chocolate Nutcracker hopes to build bridges, celebrate life and spread joy through the arts!
