Trauma Informed Care (TIC)

Participants will gain an understanding of the basic principles of Trauma and the ways in which it affects a person throughout the lifespan, especially when trauma originates in childhood. A specific look at the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) study will help participants understand the importance of screening and intervention. Trauma affects individuals in both psychological and physiological ways, thus, this training will aid participants in understanding ways in which an organization or agency can move toward becoming a trauma-informed group.

Bob Krome has worked in the field of therapy/behavior supports for the last 14 years with people with Intellectual Disabilities. He is a current member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and the Mid-Atlantic Region for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (MARATSA). Bob is also a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Professional (CSOTP).

Jessica DeFranco has been working in the field of Social Work since 2013. Her background is in healthcare working with the geriatric population, although she has experience working with self-advocates through hospice, domestic violence and sexual assault, life transition, various mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and dementia.
