10:00 am – 11:30 am; Part 1: The Upper Gastro-Intestinal (GI) System and Associated Disorders
This presentation will provide a review of the upper GI system, how it functions normally, and what occurs when it becomes disrupted by disease. Information will be shared regarding symptoms, diagnostic tests, potential risk factors and behaviors that can help keep your upper GI system healthy. The presentation will end with a look at several upper GI disorders such as dysphagia, GERD, gastritis, Barrett’s esophagus, hiatal hernia, peptic ulcer, and gastric cancer.
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm; Part 2: The Lower Gastro-Intestinal (GI) System and Associated Disorders
This presentation will provide a review of the lower GI system, the importance of the gut microbiome, how it functions normally, and what occurs when it becomes disrupted by disease. Information will be shared regarding symptoms, potential risk factors and behaviors that can help keep your lower GI system healthy. The presentation will end with a look at several lower GI disorders such as colitis, Crohn’s, irritable bowel syndrome, and colon cancer.
