ASERT Does Not Offer Crisis Services
If you or someone you love is experiencing mental health distress or thoughts of suicide please call or text 988 for support.
Young caregivers or carers are children, youth and young adults (under age 25) who provide care for a sibling, parent or grandparent. They are often a hidden and at-risk-group of caregivers, helping a family member with a chronic illness, disability (physical or intellectual), mental health, addiction, or socioeconomic factor (single parent family, language barrier, etc.).
Please join this Young Caregiver Online Support Group created by the Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO). Discussion will be driven by young caregivers to discuss issues of highest importance to young caregivers.
****Participants in this group must be between the ages of 15 to 25.
Each group is facilitated by OCO volunteers with lived experience every other Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST.
All discussions are completely confidential. They require that all participants sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement before joining the Online Support Group to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
The link to the NDA will be sent with your Online Support Group Registration. Please check your registration e-mail for details. Please note that you will not be able to attend the Online Support Group until they receive your signed NDA.
Once registered, you will receive more information on how to log in from their OCO team prior to the Online Support Group.
Note: this group is only for caregivers who are seeking support. To ensure a safe and supportive space, students, trainees, researchers, or individuals looking to learn about caregiving will not be admitted to groups, but are welcome to explore their resources and information at ontariocaregiver.ca or youngcaregiversconnect.ca.
