How We Collect Information

ASERT primarily collects information through the user registration and contact forms offered on our sites. We use cookie technology to track user trends and patterns to better understand our user base, to specifically tailor your experience on the site and to otherwise improve the quality of our services. A cookie is a small data file that websites may write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages you have visited. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie cannot read data off your hard drive or read cookie files created by other sites. A cookie can tell us, “This is the same computer that visited ASERT two days ago,” but it cannot tell us, “This person is Joe Smith” or even, “This person lives in the United States.” You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Be aware, however, that some parts of the ASERT site may not function properly if you refuse cookies.

How We Protect Information

We use a secure server and load all pages over https. The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypts information that you input before it is sent to us in appropriate areas. We also take reasonable steps to protect the data we collect against unauthorized access or use.
