Getting an MRI Social Story

When I arrive at the doctor's office, I will check in at the desk.

I will sit in the waiting room until my name is called.

A nurse will call my name when it’s my turn.

The person who helps me will tell me what the MRI will be like. I can ask questions, or my support person can.

I will need to change into a gown or pajamas. The nurse will leave the room.

I will see the MRI machine. It looks like a big tunnel.

I will lie down on a table. If I’m cold, I can ask for a blanket.

The table will move slowly into the tunnel. I need to stay still.

The machine makes loud noises like thumps, knocks, or beeps.

I can wear headphones or listen to music to make the noise quieter.
