Taking My Medicine Social Story

If I am sick, a doctor may have me take medicine. This will help make me feel better.

I can take medicine if my body hurts. I can also take it if I feel really sad, worried, or mad.

The medicine will need to be picked up at the pharmacy.

The medicine might come as a pill that I chew or swallow. Some are also liquids that I can drink.

I need to ask my doctor or read the label to know how and when to take it.

I should always check with the person who helps take care of me before taking any medicine.

I might need to eat some food or drink water when I take my medication.

Some medicines have to be taken more than once a day. I can set an alarm or write myself a note to help.

At the hospital, I might take medicine at different times. If I’m sleeping, a nurse may wake me up to take it.

Sometimes my body might feel weird after taking the medicine. I need to tell a doctor or family member if it does.
