National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Butler County: Family Support Group

Serving: Butler and Clarion Counties

NAMI Butler has 4 in-person and 1 virtual Family Support Group meeting each month. They are for individuals living with a loved one’s mental illness. Participation is free, and no pre-registration is required for in-person meetings.

    5:30 p.m., second Tuesday of the month (Masks and check-in are required upon entering the building; masks may be removed during the meeting.)

NAMI Butler is offering virtual Family Support Groups.

A peer-led group for adult family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar circumstances. Registration closes at 1:00 p.m. the day of the group.

NAMI Family Support Group will help you:

  • Talk productively about your challenges and goals
  • Find a community who can relate
  • See the individual first, not the illness
  • Recognize that mental illnesses are medical illnesses that may have environmental triggers
  • Understand that mental illnesses are traumatic events
  • Aim for better coping skills
  • Find strength in sharing experiences
  • Reject stigma and not tolerate discrimination
  • Not judge anyone’s pain
  • Forgive ourselves and reject guilt
  • Embrace humor as healthy
  • Accept that we cannot solve every problem
  • Work for a better future in a realistic way
  • Benefit through other’s experiences
  • Discover your inner strength
  • Learn how to identify local resources and how to use them

The families and members of NAMI Butler County PA are here to help! They offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment of mental illness. NAMI Butler County PA works to reduce stigma and build better lives through educating and supporting those affected by mental illness.
