Emergency Preparedness Shelter Toolkits

These trauma-informed sensory positive toolkits were developed in partnership with the PA Department of Human Services for the purpose of informing self-advocates, shelter staff/volunteers, families, caregivers, and Direct Support Professionals (DSP) on how to best support persons with sensory needs, including individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism in a disaster shelter setting. These toolkits are available to download, print, and share.

M-CHAT Autism Screening

This website provides information on the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT), which is a free screening tool for autism. This is the tool recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to be used at well child visits, but can also be used by parents, and other professionals working with young children. The website also provides information on scoring the tool, answers frequently asked questions, offers additional resources and provides the tool in multiple languages.

MAWD or Marketplace?

Choosing health insurance coverage that best meets one’s needs is important, especially for persons with significant health issues or disabilities. Pennsylvanians with serious health issues and persons with disabilities have several choices regarding health insurance. This publication will focus on two of those options: Medicaid and the Marketplace. Not every Pennsylvanian has a choice between Medicaid and the Marketplace. It only works for persons eligible for one category of Medicaid: Medical Assistance for Workers with Disabilities (MAWD). Today, people with serious health issues and persons with disabilities who are working or may be able to work, can choose between Marketplace health insurance and MAWD.
