The new guidebook, DSM-5, contains significant changes to the criteria currently used to diagnose autism, including incorporating several diagnoses (Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) into the single diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
